About Last Harvest: “At the end of the growing season when all the vines have turned gold and slowly sunk back toward the earth, you can still find traces of what once was down deep in the remnants: a single golden tomato, scattered marigold petals, and the last few herbs holding on in a desperate plea to be picked and put to good use. This piece represents the glorious end of the summer garden and the shifting of seasons into autumn, which is, after all, beautiful in itself.”

Kayla King is an abstract painter from the Central Coast of California. She finds inspiration within the natural world, specifically and landscape and in her home garden. Finished works largely influenced by water and earth: the motion, energy, sound, and texture all playing a large role what is translated to the finished piece. Stories are told in overlapping layers and marks, creating an expressive visual language that seeks to suspend a moment or memory in time.
