About the work

A day at the zoo -- sketching lions. The lions were watchful, relaxed, drowsy, not up to much of anything. One well-fed lioness sat for the duration of my sketching. Some of the lions rested against the viewing area glass, paws in the air, muscular bodies and leonine faces pressed up against the glass, just inches away from an excited audience of children.
