About the work

Minerality is an abstract color photograph of large pieces of mica mineral. The play between the transparency of the minerals, light and shadow, draws in the viewer into the work to get oriented, pushing and pulling between total flatness and three dimensions. The mica is thus transformed into an undulating neutral photographic work that exhibits the rugged beauty and wonder of nature.

    Hi there! My name is Renée and I’m an artist from beautiful and historic Richmond, Va. I love creating art and have been doing so my entire life. I consider myself an omnivore when it comes to media and techniques and I make work using everything from watercolors to photography and even purely digital designs as well. Influences range from Matisse, Vera Neumann, Ellsworth Kelly, Dennis Hopper, David Hockney and Georgia O’Keefe just to name a few.
